So, whistleblowers are protected under both the federal law--under the False Claims Act, Subsection H (that’s protection against retaliation)--and most states have different State Whistleblower Protection Acts.

It depends on the state that they’re in, but there’s a minimum of federal protection that protects them against retaliation for reporting the fraud, or coming to the government or private attorneys to report fraud.
